Book: The People’s Rabbi The Life & Legacy Of Rabbi Leib Kramer, & The Transformation Of Montreal Jewry

The Life & Legacy Of Rabbi Leib Kramer, & The Transformation Of Montreal Jewry

After a harrowing journey, Rabbi Leib Kramer, one of nine Lubavitch students, stepped off the train in Montreal in the fall of 1941. Their voyage had taken them from Otwock, Poland, to Shanghai, China, as they fled both Nazis and Communists, and in Canada had finally came to an end…

At the direction of the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, and later the seventh, Rabbi Kramer directed the Lubavitch day schools in Montreal for the next six decades. In the process, he developed close and lasting relationships with thousands of individuals in the Montreal community, becoming part of their extended family.
